EIGHT KINGS

EIGHT KINGS, is a historical drama set in the times of Sheikh
Nizamuddin Aulia.

The play is about the Eight Sultans (known as the Delhi Sultanate), who ruled just before the advent of Mohammed bin Tughlaq.

It is a story of how Ibn Batuta, a traveller from Morocco, came to the City of Delhi and met up with a wandering ‘Kalander'(follower of Sufism) who told him the story of the previous eight sultans. How power was fought for, won & lost, again & again.

The city of Delhi is the main character in the play which has witnessed Sufi Saints & Emperors co-exist peacefully through centuries to become an intrinsic part of its history and cultural landscape. The ‘Kalander’ speaks about the fickleness of fate and the transient nature of political power. Ultimately, how only love has triumphed over the centuries.

The play is written and directed by Vikramjeet Sinha and is inspired by a to be published book “Nine Nights and a Million Stars” by Dhritabrata Bhattacharya Tato.

Music & sound design is by Ketan Sharma.

Farhad Colabavala enacts all the ten roles in this Mad Bawa Production.
